YOU KNEW… … that the son of the mayor of Bogota, I fight Garzón, was head of list in the internal consultation of the Democratic Pole in Bogota? … which the son of missing Bernardo Jaramillo Ossa announced that he is going to retake the flags of his father, as also the children are doing it of Jose Antequera and Rodrigo Lara Bonilla? … that the son of the lawyer Antonio Jose Cancino, defender of Ernesto Samper, already litigates also? … which Simón, the son of Caesar Gaviria, is apparently adviser of Peñalosa, flaming candidate to the presidency?

And the mismito that, years later, fungiendo like Vice-minister of Youth, adjudged itself a scholarship of Colfuturo study in the outside, scholarships designed explicitly for poor Colombians, and…
Worse still: he himself who recently lent itself for a program of the channel Nacional Geographic, where they cracked right and left of Colombia. That Chinese would have to be in the corrupt jail by, dishonest and thief (by the one of the scholarship), but pobrecito the kid, he is of last name Gallant and insurance will think that Colombia must that to him and much more.
… that the newspaper the Time recently contracted the smaller son of Gallant like political publisher. Mirús will know so that.
… that the director of the magazine Week is the son of Don Enrique Santos, the director of the Time, reputed journalist and person respectable.
… that the son of Daniel Samper Pizano, columnista and shareholder of the Time and brother of Ernesto, is the director of the magazine the Soho, most influential in the fly of the Colombians. (This boy, “Ramoncitoâ€, have the power to undress to any girl of the country and that is not a smaller power).

Now he gives classes in a lineage university, he writes in the Spectator and it is member of the boards of directors of Isagen and Bancolombia.
… and which the other son writes in the magazine Change, the Colombian and until it makes news articles for the Channel Caracol. They are looked like the Valencia Cossio, are throughout. This list does not try to be exhaustive because we would never finish but we end:
*un son of Santofimio Wineskin maker is in the Embassy in France;
*un son of Bernardine Serna War is senator and another one is adviser of the Minister of Transport;
*la daughter of Francisco Jose Jattin is, neither the more nor the less, president of the House of Representatives;
*y is a grandson of that one and a daughter of the other there beyond.
By all means that would be a stupidity - like those of J.M. Gallant or those of Simón Gaviria-, to affirm that all of them lack own merits to hold those positions. But indeed what indicates the tendency is that the merit does not concern but the chaste one. And that has much to do with the concentration of the power in the country, with the concentration of the entrance and the immense breach between the elites and the others, and with the diáspora of talented Colombians, and until with the same violence.
That they were prepared in the best universities of the world, will say in his defense. Sure it is that the others hardly enter the universities of here, less to those of outside. But they did it, would not wide find to its return the open doors like the children of papi.
Think to see: The most outstanding Colombians of our contemporary history do not come from “good†cradle. Neither Gabo, nor Wineskin maker, nor the several tens of good sportsmen, artists and others, crawled in Persian rug.
Many good politicians and industrialists left down, and the narcotics traffickers are a good sample of people with talent that did not find a control valve to channel it.
Somebody thinks that a good selection can be armed of soccer with the children of Asprilla, Higuita, Valderrama, Maturana and the Bobbin, because are only children of those who are children? The genetics and the atmosphere help but the power can be transferred by osmosis neither to inherit itself by testament, nor to transmit itself in the spermatozoa. The elites are created owners of the country and they are it inheriting to its dolphins like the disused monarchies. A country thus does not go nowhere.
The British sociologist Michael Young (mentioned by Ralf Dahrendorf in the Time, April 20 of 2005), considers that “meritocracia means simply that another group leader closes the doors behind himself once estatus has obtained his. Those that thanks to their “merit†arrived now at the top want to have all the others: not only to be able and money, but the opportunity to determine who enters and who is outside. Sooner or later, the meritocráticas elites let be open; they take care of themselves of which their children have better opportunities than prole of the others, (…) they are based solidly and they use all means to his reach to maintain that statu quoâ€.
Many of the mentioned ones would have to imitate the example of the son of Alvaro Stolen Go'mez, who after usufructuar a reporter who directed for being son of, was sent to paint mamarrachos to Paris, and there she learned that the talent does not come by last name: what natura does not give, Harvard yes that less. It is the nepotism that calls, of Latin nepote, or nephew, of when the Popes favored their nephews, for want of children.
